Whitney Houston claims top spot anew
Don't look now but Whitney Houston—already dismissed by many as a has-been—is back at number one after waiting 16 long years with her latest CD, “I Look to You.”
Houston's last chart-topper was the critically acclaimed and commercially successful album, “The Bodyguard.” It spent 20 weeks at number one in 1993.
Her other number one albums were her self-titled debut in 1986 and “Whitney” in 1987.
Meanwhile, The Arctic Monkeys, a four-piece indie rock/post-punk band from Sheffield, England, is atop the UK charts with their latest song, “Humbug.”
A look at the Hot 100 singles chart shows The Black Eyed Peas still holding on to the top spot with the feel good vibe of “I Gotta Feeling.” It is now on its 13th week rule.
“Down” by Jay Sean featuring Lil Wayne and likewise, Miley Cyrus’ “Party In The U.S.A.” continue to hold down the number two and three spots, respectively.
Up two notches from last week is “Run This Town” by Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West, which lands at the number four spot.
The Kings Of Leon goes down a notch this week at number five with “Use Somebody.”
Taylor Swift loses a bit of ground in the singles chart by going down to number six (from last week’s number five).
Gaining four notches from number eleven last week is Mariah Carey, who makes a comeback on the top ten singles chart by securing the number seven position with “Obsessed.”
Pitbull is up a step from number nine to number eight this week.
Drake’s “The Best I Ever Had” goes down two notches to number nine, while Jason Derulo’s “Watcha Say” closes this week’s singles chart at number ten, up from number thirteen last week .
