Universal Records releases Super Junior’s new CD

Universal Records, the first to release a Korean pop act in the country, the Super Junior band or simply SJ or SuJu, is very much impressed with the mighty sales reaction of the band’s newest “Sorry Sorry” album, which zoomed up to No. 1 slot of a leading outlet charts, Music One; just after three days in the scene.
Now on top of Music One album charts this week, Super Junior has clearly out-sold international artists like Whitney Houston, Black Eyed Peas, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.
Super Junior is a 13-member Korean boy-band who can sing, dance and do anything you could think of that young and dynamic performers can do. They debuted with 12 but have lately added another member, making them the largest boy band in the world.
The members are Leeteuk (the leader), Heechul, Hangeng, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, Kibum and later, Kyuhyun. The Chinese member, Han Geng, was chosen from three thousand applicants, via auditions in China in 2001.
Largely due to Super Junior’s success as entertainers, other Korean talent managements began to train their groups in other areas of entertainment like acting and hosting.
In addition to their worldwide commercial success, Super Junior has earned four music awards from M.Net/KM Music Festival, another four from Golden Disk Awards and their Favorite Artist-Korea at the MTV Asian Music Awards.
The band has released three studio albums, three CD singles and six compilation albums from SM Entertainment. They also contributed in a total of seven movie soundtracks.
“Sorry, Sorry” is their third and latest album, released in Korea last March. The album debuted at No. 1 on the South Korea’s Hanteo Daily Charts and became the bestselling album in the country, Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwan for the year 2009. As of May 15, it has already sold over 215,000 units, making it the first Korean language album to achieve such phenomenal acceptance.
Super Junior’s “Sorry, Sorry” (Version C), contains four new songs including “It’s You,” “Gee,” “Love Disease,” “She Wants It” and “I Love You More,” composed by Sung Min and Rye Wook. The CD also has the original 12 songs, with the megahit “Sorry Sorry.”
Universal Records is proud to be the Philippine home to this Superstar Korean boy band. Local SuJu fans will surely rejoice because the “Sorry Sorry” (Version C) Philippine edition also includes the full-color booklet.
