Maja Salvador mobbed in Candelaria

The security personnel of Sioland Supermarket at the Quezon Town Center in Candelaria, Quezon were no match to the hundreds of screaming fans who mobbed Maja Salvador there last Sept. 9.
Maja was in Candelaria to give away 150 pieces of Sisters school bags to high school students. She rendered a dance number before distributing the goodies together with Aileen Go, vice president of Megasoft Corp, makers of Sisters Sanitary Napkins.
Although Sioland owners Bishop & Elizabeth So and their children Kathleen, Emerson, Kharen and Eric were on hand to ensure that all the arrangements for Maja’s visit were carried out to a T, they did not anticipate the kind of fervor that the people received the young actress with.
Even while the press was interviewing Maja at a restaurant, kibitzers tarried outside, screaming out her name and taking pictures of her albeit from afar and, surely, out of focus. Even the waiters, the cashiers and baggers, and some of the security men themselves were star struck and asked for Maja’s autograph.
A deafening roar rose from the crowd as soon as Maja stepped onstage. The audience lustily heeded all of Maja’s calls. Some even gamely danced with the young actress much to the approval of the crowd. Just before leaving, select people from the audience had their pictures taken with the “May Bukas Pa” star.
Maja’s Candelaria stop is part of Sisters Feminine Napkins nationwide tour which includes Baguio, Dagupan, Cavite, Pampanga, Bicol, Batangas and Laguna.
Maja is currently taping for the TV remake of “Magsimula sa Puso” which originally starred Hilda Koronel, Richard Gomez and Jay Ilagan in the 90s. In the forthcoming ABS-CBN series, Maja’s co-stars are Jason Abalos and Coco Martin.
In our short interview with Maja, she denied all rumors linking her to actors Sam Milby and Jon Avila.
“I don’t know where such talks come from,” said she. “Sam and I were only recently together twice and for work: during the Star Magic World Tour and at a show in General Santos City. As for Jon Avila, no, he isn’t courting me at all.”
“No love life for me at this point. I want to focus on work.”
