World-acclaimed pianist Cecile Licad has arrived for the much-awaited CCP 40th anniversary concerts on Sept. 15 and 16 with German cellist Alban Gerhardt.

Licad has just wrapped up highly acclaimed performances in Switzerland, Rome and California where she was soloist in Ravel’s Concerto in G.  

Licad and German cellist Alban Gerhardt will be heard in a recital on Tuesday and with PPO on Sept. 16, 8 p.m. at the CCP main theater. Tuesday’s CCP program includes Chopin’s Scherzo No. 3, Ligeti’s solo cello sonata, Beethoven’s Sonata for Cello and Piano in A, Op. 69; Janacek: Fairy Tales (1923 version) and a Prokofiev sonata. Sept. 16 PPO Program: Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1, and Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Major. Proceeds of the two concerts will go to the projects of the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines.
