Erap questions Ping's motives

Former President Joseph "Erap" Estrada, in an interview on 24 Oras on GMA channel 7, denied Senator Panfilo Lacson's allegations of systemic corruption when Estrada was still president.

"Hindi ko maintindihan...halos puro kasinungalingan," said Estrada referring to Lacson's revelations.

According to him, he doesn't know about Lacson's motivations and said that Lacson should have revealed all these when he was still in prison.

Estarda said that he also knows about Lacson's wrongdoings and would likely answer the allegations in time.

Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson, in a privilege speech earlier Monday, accused former President Estrada of corruption when he was still president, involvement in the Dacer-Corbito murder case, harassment, and smuggling.

Atty. Ray C. Espinosa, legal counsel of Manny V. Pangilinan, likewise debunked Lacson's allegation.

Espinosa, who acted as the legal counsel for both MVP and the first pacific, said the sale and purchase transaction of PTIC was "commecially negotiated" with the purchase price set at a "premium above the then stock market price of the underlying PLDT shares."

Senator Jinggoy Estrada, Erap's son, said he would reply to Lacson's allegations in a privilege speech on Tuesday.
