Blast injures Coco Martin; Sharon explains Kiko’s political moves
Actor Coco Martin suffered an eye injury on the set of "Tayong Dalawa" last Sept. 15.
According to a report aired on “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Coco was doing an action scene when a couple of blasting caps [used to simulate gunshots] exploded around his face, injuring his eye, chin and upper lip. The accident was caught on camera.
Coco was immediately rushed to nearby UST Hospital by the show's staff and his co-actors Jake Cuenca and Gerald Anderson. Pyroclastic elements and pieces of his torn jacket--which was ripped by the blasting cap—were removed from his left eye.
The actor was sent home after a few hours and is now recuperating.
In a statement, Coco said that he is taking "antibiotics and [other] medicines" and that he is "okay" except for slightly blurred vision.
Coco is set to star in a new soap with Maja Salvador. He's also featured in one of ABS-CBN's "Agimat" series.
In the same “Showbiz News Ngayon” episode, Megastar Sharon Cuneta clarified that her husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan is far from being ambitious when he announced that he’s gunning for the vice-presidential post.
"Hindi 'yong ambisyon ang inuuna ng asawa ko from the very beginning. Ang laging ginagawa niya [ay] kung ano ang tingin niya na makabubuti sa mas nakararami. Kiko is supporting what would be best for the country," said Sharon
Senator Pangilinan announced a few days ago that he is supporting Senator Noynoy Aquino's bid for presidency. Kris Aquino, Noynoy’s sister, thanked Sharon profusely for their move.
“Ang gaganda ng sinabi niya [Kris]. Parang sabi ko, hindi naman necessary [na gawin pa niya yon though] siyempre, sobrang appreciated ko at saka very heartwarming. Na-touch ako sa kanya. Dapat magkasama rin kami ni Kris sa [isang] movie, sa special or whatever.”
Sharon maintained that Kiko doesn’t regret pushing for higher public office.
"Kung nag-ambisyon siyang tumakbong VP (Vice President), para lang sa tingin niyang kaya niyang gawin dahil nai-offer lang. Kung saan kami feeling namin saan magiging effective, in our own little way, 'yon aang gagawin namin" she explained.
The megastar added that at home, their family doesn’t talk about politics.
"We avoid it [talking about politics] when we're at home because that's where we leave everything behind. Hindi ba politics and showbiz together can be explosive? So at home, we prefer to just focus on our family."
