Home-grown Potato Corner forays into overseas markets

Do you know that the home-grown Potato Corner, that small-cart store selling French fries in local malls, has ventured in overseas markets?

Well, after just seven years of successful operations, Potato Corner now has 10 outlets in Jakarta, Indonesia. Branches are also set to open in Los Angeles, USA this September. It’s also set to launch a new concept café called Potato Corner Spud Diner – a sit-down alternative that will feature sumptuous potato dishes.

Who could have thought that everyone’s favorite French Fries would turn into something more exciting and enjoyable? Gone were the days when fries can be as plain as we used to enjoy them, served with a dash of salt and dipped in catsup or mayo for an added flavor.

Now, potatoes can be made even more flavorful and interesting to the plate. And they are just around the corner, giving consumers a variety of ways to enjoy a fantastic snack the way you want them.

Thanks to Potato Corner, which gave us the first-ever flavored fries served in popular food kiosks that have become an instant hit in the Philippines and now gaining recognition worldwide? Since opening its first outlet at SM Megamall in October of 1992, Potato Corner succeeded in winning the hearts of the consumers with its first flavored and original French Fries. Along with this innovative business concept, Cinco Corporation (the company behind Potato Corner), also launched its franchise operations after a few months. And by 1994, Potato Corner grew to having 70 outlets – a combination of carts, kiosks, and counters.

For the past 16 years, Potato Corner remains to be the No. 1 potato snack truly loved and patronized everywhere. It continues to offer excitingly flavored crispy potato fries like the all-time favorites barbeque fries, cheddar fries and sour cream fries.

Proof of its commitment to high business standards was being the recipient of the Franchise
Excellence Hall of Fame Award in 2003. This recognition was given by the Philippine Franchise Association and the Department of Trade and Industry for the distinction of winning Best Franchise of the Year for three consecutive years.
