Heartthrob Piolo Pascual is protective of his relationship with KC Concepcion, his “Lovers in Paris” leading lady whom he is wooing.

This was apparent during the media huddle for the Filipinized Koreanovela series set to premiere on ABS-CBN on Sept. 28.

“We have decided na mag-focus muna sa show because whatever we say, sasabihin magka-partner [lang] kasi kami tapos kapag wala na yung show ay wala na din kami. Gusto ko [ay] mag-focus muna ang mga tao sa characters namin then after the show’s run na lang natin pagusapan yung tungkol dun [romance],” Piolo said.

“So, para maprotektahan namin ang friendship namin, I think it’s better na chill [na] muna [yung tungkol sa amin].”

Piolo, according to KC, mentored her in this her first soap opera.

“He taught me why it’s important na disciplined ka sa time. Na ang produkto namin is ourselves and that we have to invest time sa sarili namin at sa pakikitungo sa ibang tao. Parang teacher ko siya, ‘yun bang…ano…guro,” said KC.
 
The Mega daughter finds essaying her character Vivian “challenging” because she is exactly her opposite in real life.

“Hitsura pa lang namin ni Vivian, ibang-iba na. She is not curvaceous at mestiza.. [At] siguro mas matangkad ako sa kanya,” KC mused aloud.

“Alam ko na maraming tao ang protective kay Vivian which is where the challenge of doing this remake lies. Doble ang fulfillment kung magustuhan ng tao [yung portrayal ko].”
 
It helps that she grew up in the public eye ala-Jim Carrey in “The Truman Show.”

“Kilalang-kilala ang mga magulang ko. From birth, parang nasa magazine na ako. Alam ko na mahirap for the first few days na matanggal ‘yong pagkakakilala ng tao kung sino ako, kung ano ang nakita ng tao sa akin. Parang teleserye nga po ang buhay ko,” she said.

Piolo is all praises for KC.

“Nakita ko how grounded she is. Nakita ko talaga na determinado siya, not just to learn, but to show something, a different side of her.

“Ang nakakatuwa sa kanya, hindi siya nagmamarunong. KC is very humble. Never siyang nagbigay ng problema sa amin. Hindi siya bossy. Nakikinig talaga siya. She’s doing everything para matuto.”

The ‘lovers’ may not be in Paris now, but they sure are still romantic, huh!
