Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile delivered an unannounced privilege speech Tuesday in defense of former Pres. Joseph Estrada. The speech addressed accusations made by Sen. Panfilo Lacson in a privilege speech last Monday, September 14, 2009. Enrile said that Estrada is a good man who trusted the wrong people. He was generous and his generosity was exploited by those against him.

Sen. Enrile stressed Estrada's kind and forgiving nature. He quoted former Pres. Cory Aquino who said "patawarin sana niya ako, lahat naman tayo may pagkakamali", when talking about Estrada's ouster from the presidential seat.

Sen. Enrile cited Estrada for being a pro-poor public servant. He said that Sen. Noynoy Aquino should be aware of Estrada's presence on the presidential candidacy as he is capable of redeeming himself with his good nature to help the public.

Sen. Enrile closed his speech by stating that he will always be by Estrada's side saying, "isang malaking karangalan na ako ay ituring niyang isang malapit na kaibigan."
