BAGUIO CITY — Running underneath pine trees coupled with the warm welcome of the people in the city is giving an inspiration to pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao to train well for his upcoming blockbuster bout with Puerto Rican welterweight champion Miguel Cotto on November 14 at the MGM Grand arena in Las Vegas.

Comparing his previous trainings in the US, Pacquiao, who entered his second day of heavy training in the city, said having his training underneath the famous pine trees and the city's pine-scented air is far more encouraging and inspiring rather than running through tall buildings.

Pacquiao also likened the Shape Up Gym located at the Cooyeesan Hotel here where he is currently holding workouts as similar to that of the IBA gym in Las Vegas where he held his trainings for his previous fights.

Buboy Fernandez, longtime training assistant of Freddie Roach, said that while he welcomes the warm reception of the residents and tourists who follow Pacquiao each time he does his morning roadwork, he is appealing to them to keep some distance so the famed puncher can train in peace.

Pacquiao arrived here Sunday and was immediately mobbed by fans asking for autographs.

Pacquiao plans to spend a minimum of four weeks here as part of his preparation for the rugged Cotto, whose World Boxing Organization welterweight crown will be on the line.
