BIR cites MSU head for taxes
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Region 16 here awarded Dr. Macapado A. Muslim, president of the Mindanao State University (MSU), for being the top government withholding agent (NGA) of Revenue District No. 102 in Marawi City, having remitted a total amount of P13.5 million as withholding tax covering the period from January 10 to June this year. Datu Aminoden Macarampat, revenue district officer, said this significant withholding tax remittances during the said period greatly contributed to the ongoing tax collection efforts and performance of the district and the entire region, and whose patriotic gesture is worthy of emulation.
As this developed, a plaque of recognition was handed to Dr. Datumanong Saranggani, MSU executive vice president, last August 1 during the BIR anniversary celebration of the Revenue Region 16 office here, who was authorized by Muslim to receive the award in his behalf. The plaque of recognition was signed by Diane L. Florante, officer-in-charge of the collection division; Mamapok Dero, assistant regional director; Aminoden Macarampat, revenue district officer; and Esmeralda M. Tabuli, CESO-V regional director. Dr. Dayang P. Ali, dean of the College of Education, said this is the first time in history that the university was given due recognition to receive such award under the leadership of Muslim because of his deep concern to institute various reforms both in the academic aspects and administrative sectors. Troops unearth bomb materials
BUTUAN CITY– At least seven gallons of superdyne explosives and other bomb making materials were dug up by patrolling combat maneuvering troops in Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur, a regional Army spokesman reported Wednesday.
Maj. Mitchele B. Anayron, Jr., regional Army spokesman, said the explosive materials were found after villagers reported the locations of the hidden explosives to patrolling troops of the 36th Infantry Battalion under Lt. Col. Dennis Gamad. He stressed that the explosive materials were recovered through the help of the community signifying that the New People’s Amy (NPA) has lost its touch in influencing the minds of the civilian populace. “The found explosives might be used by the New People’s Army against our patrolling troops and other terroristic activities in the area. They might also use these explosives in their extortion activities,” claimed Anayron. He said the two gallons of superdyne explosives was unearthed at Sitio Agpan in Barangay Imelda, Bunawan town, Agusan del Sur. Anayron said the same patrolling troops of the 36th IB led by certain 2nd Lt. Sangria also found one gallon of superdyne explosive and other component for bomb making at Sitio Furi, Barangay Sta. Kids found 3 bombs in CdeO
BUTUAN CITY – At least three bombs were found on Tuesday by children hidden along bamboo trees in Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City, a regional Army spokesman reported yesterday. Maj. Mitchele
B. Anayron, Jr., regional Army spokesman, said the children were playing under the bamboo tree when they found the three bombs believed hidden by still unidentified person. The type of bombs were two 81mm and 60mm, he said. The bombs were immediately brought to local authorities for safekeeping. Meanwhile, at least 17 armed New People’s Army (NPA) rebels voluntarily surrendered to Army authorities in Bukidnon province, Anayron also reported. He said the surrender of the 17 NPA rebels were immediately relayed to Brig. Gen. Mario F. Chan, commanding general of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division. He said elements of the 8th Infantry Battalion on Tuesday accepted the surrender of two regular NPA fighters in the Zamboangita area, in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. (Mike Crismundo)
