American sizzles in Euro-Med Storm tilt
American Lonnie Waliczek rolled a 1586 series to take the lead in the fourth qualifying day of the 7th Euro-Med Storm International Masters Challenge Tuesday held at Paeng’s Midtown Bowl in Robinsons Place, Malate.
Using Ebonite products, Waliczek was simply awesome he surpassed the 1500 barrier in the event sponsored by Euro-Med Laboratories and Storm Products Inc.
The American bowler is hoping to win the title to add to his growing collections of two PBA titles and 40 perfect games.
Malaysian national team bowler Shafiq Ridhwan also surpassed the 1500 barrier with a 1522 series. Korean lady bowler Cha Mi Jung rolled the first perfect game of the tournament and finished with a 1510 series to post the third highest two block series of the day.
All three bowlers will automatically qualify for the finals on Thursday and Friday.

Aaron Kong of Malaysia is the leader of the qualifiers for the Euro-Med Storm Challenge with a series of 1496. Paulo Valdez of TBAM-Timberpro is in second with 1462, just five pins ahead of Hong Kong's Wu Siu Hong. Malaysian's Adrian Ang (1448), and Zulmazran Zulkifli (1446) are running fourth and fifth, respectively.
U.S.A. Storm pro staff members Tim Mack (1440) and Rhino Page (1438) occupy seventh and eighth positions. KPBA's Jeong Tae Hwa and Singapore's Mark Wong rounded up the top 10 qualifiers with identical scores of 1429.
PBA youth bowler Javee Yusingco (1506) remains on top of the Bevida-Storm Challenge 2009 with Nilo Penado in second place with a 1487 series followed by PBAP-Bowlmart bowlers Gene Basa (1458) and J Em Ang (1387).
A pair of lady bowlers Nelia Santos (1375) and Apple Posadas (1375) rounded up the top five position.
TBAM's Tommy Cu (1365), balikbayan Anthony Balabbo(1365), MTBA's Mhen Nantin (1360), and Hong Kong's Vanessa Fung (1358) Arounds up the top10 qualifiers for Thursday's finals.
