Cebu geo-hazard mapping done next month
CEBU CITY – The Region 7 Office of the Mines and Geo-sciences Bureau (MGB 7) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is set to complete its rapid geo-hazard assessment covering seven municipalities in Cebu province next month.
MGB7 Regional Director Roger A. de Dios bared that since the assessment started early in September, the result is expected to be completed early next month.
The rapid geo-hazard assessment will cover 186 barangays in seven municipalities, that is, Argao, Carcar, Dalaguete, Oslob, Pinamungahan, San Fernando and Sibonga.
“Out of the 53 cities and municipalities in Cebu, 30 cities and municipalities or 57 percent will be covered by the rapid geo-hazard assessment” said de Dios.
Meanwhile, the MGB7 official disclosed that the evaluation for the province of Bohol and Negros Oriental
were already completed last year and middle this year.
