Ruffa Gutierrez raises ruckus on Twitter—again
No stranger to controversy, former beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez is now back on the rumor mill because of a series of comments she allegedly made via Twitter, a popular social networking site.
‘Tweeting’ from the page dubbed “iloveruffag - the official Ruffa Gutierrez twitter page,” the TV host has been receiving adverse reactions from other twitter users for what they deem as “uncouth” and “classless” remarks.
In a recent ‘tweet,’ the “iloveruffag” page author namedropped Kris Aquino announcing her plan of creating a Facebook and Twitter account.
What prompted reactions from other users was the statement that read: “If you will not show her your voter’s registration number she will not accept you. :)”
Almost immediately, blog sites and forums were inundated with people voicing out their opinion against what they deemed “a damaging declaration” which, they say, may taint Noynoy Aquino’s (Kris's older brother) presidential bid.
Seemingly made aware of the disapproving feedback, the user has now blocked the site.
It was a far cry from what happened a week ago, when the same author engaged “followers” (a term used for Twitter subscribers) in a bitter word war after having received negative reactions for posting ‘tweets’ that allegedly revealed the ending of the hit movie “In My Life.”
Calling those who sent negative replies “dumb,” the author, obviously peeved, ultimately dropped a stinker: “Please boycott me so I can cry!!! Boo hoo hoo!!!” which only served to further enrage the followers.
Fueled by the remark, one went as far as to sardonically ask on the author’s site: “What pet name does John Lloyd (Cruz, star of In My Life, rumored to be Gutierrez’ current squeeze) call you? …Is it Ate? Tita, maybe?”
Not about to turn the other cheek, the author replied: “LOVEY DOVEY! Inggit ka? : )”
In the end, the author somehow tried to wiggle out of the brouhaha hinting that Gutierrez is “a busy person” and the site is being managed only by an “assistant.”
Since its creation in 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Twitter has gained recognition worldwide.
Some of its more popular users are Hollywood celebrities including Ellen DeGeneres, Kim Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, John Mayer, Oprah Winfrey, and of course, Ashton Kutcher.
The last was among the first few stars that got embroiled in a Twitter controversy when he published a semi-naked ‘twitpic’ of his wife, Demi Moore.
According to the site’s counter, the "iloveruffag" account has been up July 11, 2009.
