Matters of the Heart
"I’m dating but I’m not ready for any commitment.”
Heart Evangelista made this remark when asked if she has moved on and ready for new love. She stressed that when it comes to matters of the heart, she wants to take it easy and relax. As to what kind of man would sweep her away, she described him as someone who would accept who she is, understand her career and most importantly, love her parents. She also wants a non-showbiz boyfriend!
“It’s very different when you’re in showbiz because there’s lots of temptation. I know guys will be guys and they’ll always give in to temptation. I’ve accepted that. I grew up in that kind of thinking and that innocence is bliss. In showbiz kasi it’s so much. Mababaliw ka. Kahit hindi ka selosa our job is just unexplainable why you do kissing scenes, bed scenes and I don’t want to do anything with that. Ako na lang ang artista, not my boyfriend,” she stressed.
Her decision to have an almost showbiz-free relationship in the future came from her past “traumatized” relationship with actor Jericho Rosales.
“Sa showbiz kasi I don’t really believe the things I hear. But at that time kasi my family was already involved. And when your family says something and they show you all these pictures and everything of course you are going to believe. I don’t know how they got those pictures. They are my parents so siyempre kahit konti magugulo rin ang utak mo,” she intimated.
She also revealed that she wasn’t jealous of Carmen Soo, the Malaysian actress Jericho who worked with in an ABS-CBN drama series. Rather she was jealous of the American actress he worked with in “Subject: I Love You,” the Hollywood movie he was in. She also claimed that she has proof to why she was jealous. But they have already worked things out before.
“Ayaw ko na ng showbiz boyfriend. I don’t think I can even be a friend to Jericho. We’re okay but I can’t be his friend because I don’t love him as a friend. Now I really don’t think about him. I’ve moved on. When you move on you don’t want to think about it. Because if you really love the person you’ll be back to square one and I don’t want to be back in square one,” she declared.
After getting hurt and when it comes to the promises of new love, Heart is designing her fate and future relationship. She can’t help but be more careful about her future happiness. She has always given her all in every relationship but has always been hurt in the end.
“There was a time I was very irrational because I was then very immature. When you’re in love you don’t think straight. You know love is a chemical reaction in your head that makes you dumb. Kaya ayaw ko muna. Relax-relax muna,” she smiled.
More Fashionista
With her soap opera “Ngayon at Kailanman” ending its run this afternoon, Heart is left with her Q Channel 11 TV show “Fashonistas by Heart.” But she is excited about her show since it has been extended up to a December run. And unlike love, she has always been all out and a risk taker when it comes to fashion.
“We are doing well. I really love this show because fashion is also my passion,” Heart expressed.
With their extended run, she gets to work more on their segments like Look For Less, Get That Look, Makeovers and How to Play with Your Outfit. She is also eager about their celebrity guests lined up for her show.
So how does she keep herself abreast with fashion?
“There are websites and blogs that I visit. It’s my job to be updated to the latest in celebrity fashion and I have my own stylists. So she also helps me update my style,” said Heart whose fashion icon included classic beauties like the late Princess Diana and Jackie Onassis.
Though always in the limelight, Heart shared that “Fashionistas by Heart” also worked to her advantage because of segments like Fashion for Less wherein she kept learning a lot about being fashionable to an affordable budget.
“I can relate to Fashion for Less because I don’t know how long I’ll last in this business so I need to save money. I’m just realistic. I’ve surrendered all my four credit cards. I only received P7,000 per week. Masakit but I want to invest my money. I don’t want to rely on what’s happening now in my career. I’m blessed naman kasi whatever I earn it’s mine ayaw ko naman tumanda na walang napundar,” opined the actress who recently purchased a condo unit at The Fort to be rented out.
With regards to “Ngayon at Kailanman,” how does she feel that it has ended?
“Tama lang sa occasion because mabigat din. It was the heaviest soap that I ever had. Siguro almost laging umiiyak. Lagi akong nabubugbog, lagi akong nasasabunutan. But everything is okay. I’m happy and excited to do other things. I have another movie and another soap opera coming up,” she quipped.
