Sexy actress Katrina Halili had expressed disappointment over the Philippine Medical Association’s [PMA] suspension of erstwhile lover Hayden Kho.

Kho, who figured with Halili in a sex video scandal early this year, was recently meted out a 2-year suspension by the medical group for “immorality and dishonorable conduct.”

In reports that aired on GMA-7, Sept. 23, the actress said she had hoped that the PMA would recommend the doctor’s outright expulsion from the medical profession.

It can be recalled that Halili filed charges of “unjust vexation” and "malpractice" against Kho and had been pushing for a revocation of Kho’s medical license.

Out of all the complaints filed with the NBI, the DOJ, the PRC, and the DOH, it was only the PMA who had been able to come out and finalize a quick decision.

Early this month, reports of Kho being suspended for a year by the PMA came out.

This was eventually refuted by the medical group explaining that the ruling, as issued by the group’s board of governors, was “just a recommendation” and will have to be deliberated upon by their ethics commission.

According to PMA Ethics Commission head Dr. Santiago del Rosario, they were intending to actually expel Kho but eventually decided for the lesser punishment of suspension.

“At that time, we wanted to expel him, but there were mitigating circumstances that came up,” said del Rosario. “His act of remorse and atonement and his promise to go on medical missions made us decide on a suspension instead.”

Del Rosario said they will submit their recommendation on Kho to the Professional Regulation Commission.

Kho’s suspension from the PMA does not prohibit him from practicing his profession, as the PRC alone can suspend or revoke a doctor’s license.

Kho, in a statement, simply said that he “respects the decision.”

Kho’s lawyer Irene Garcia had said they wouldn’t contest the decision.

"I think the suspension is more agreeable for us. (The decision) is what we were hoping for. But to clarify, Hayden has suspended himself voluntarily prior (to the ruling). He had stopped practicing already and had been doing voluntary community service instead,” she said.
