Outstanding green home designs on exhibit
Outstanding designs for green Filipino homes will be put on exhibit starting Sep. 29 to enable design professionals and enthusiasts to view model home concepts that depict native values and environmental awareness.
A catalogued critique manual will be distributed to visitors at the exhibit to be held at the University Theater starting Sept. 29 and running for two weeks to provide the general public with a deeper appreciation of the submitted works.
Sponsor Lafarge Cement Services Philippines Inc. and partner UP College of Architecture are behind the exhibit of winning and outstanding entries to the recently held “Pinakamagandang Bahay sa Balat ng Lupa” (PMBBL) competition.
UPCA Professor Nicolo del Castillo, PMBBL chairman encouraged architects, design professionals and other architecture enthusiasts to come visit PMBBL–the exhibit to benefit from “a wealth of ideas on building smartly and sustainable in the tropics.”
Samir Cairae, Lafarge Cement Services (Philippines) Inc. president said that home is the best place to cultivate the seeds of respect for nature and the environment. “Nothing best expresses our respect and appreciation for our environment than having a green home that allows the best and most sustainably comfortable lifestyle,” he said.
The Pinakamagandang Bahay sa Balat ng Lupa is a design challenge for Filipino architects to build a truly Filipino, truly green house which was opened to professionals as well as architecture students. It is a joint project of the Lafarge Cement Services Philippines Inc. and the UP College of Architecture.
