RP vs Myanmar in volley opener

The Philippine team, back after a two-year absence in the international scene, opens its title campaign against Myanmar at the start of the 15th Asian Men’s Senior’s Volleyball Championship this Saturday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

RP assistant coach Edgar Barroga admitted that they know nothing about the players of Myanmar but just the same they’re ready and confident of their chances when they clash at 7 p.m.

“We really don’t have any idea against them (Myanmar), but the boys are ready for any surprise,” said Barroga, one of the assistant coaches of RP men’s head coach Sammy Acaylar.

“I’m sure it would be an exciting first match.”

A total of six games are scheduled today with two games be played at the nearby San Andres gym in Malate where defending champion Australia collides with Lebanon at 4 p.m. Indonesia taking on India at 2 p.m.

Also seeing action on Saturday are Korea which tackles Maldives at 2 p.m. while China collides with Vietnam at 4 p.m. Sri Lanka and Hong Kong open the competition when they clash.
