Army engineers turn over farm-to-market project
BUTUAN CITY — In pursuit of a continuing peace and development efforts in Southern Mindanao, the Army engineers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) turned over another completed 1.5-kilometer farm-to-market road in Fatima town, Paquibato District, Davao City.
Early this year, the engineering brigade and battalions of the AFP also turned over some road projects in Compostela Valley.
The turnover and acceptance ceremony was witnessed by the residents and their local leaders in Fatima, said 1Lt. Harold A. Ho, civil military operation officer of the Army’s 1003rd Infantry Brigade, on Monday.
The completed farm-to-market road was an Inter Agency Transfer Fund project implemented by 534th Engineer Construction Battalion, 52th Engineering Brigade of the Philippine Army through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Southern Mindanao and through the initiative of Rep. Vincent Garcia, Ho said.
The 1.5-km road was extended to two kilometers upon the instruction of the commander of the 52nd Engineering Brigade so that more people in the area can benefit and shorten travel time in bringing their farm produce to markets, he said.
