Quick response to the needs of typhoon victims has successfully earned “pogi points” for Senator Manuel Villar and Defense Secrtary Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro Jr., Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said on Thursday.

Marcos said that the two, earned the positive points to their political bid, and “seemed to have outdone all other presidential aspirants after they responded quickly to the needs of storm “Ondoy” victims.

He based his view on the media attention given the so-called presidentiables amid the flood devastation brought about by storm Ondoy.

Marcos said it was obvious that Teodoro’s role as chairman of the National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) was an advantage for him.

But despite Teodoro’s blatant use of government resources to advance his political ambition, Marcos noted that Villar did not allow himself to be left behind by the administration presidential candidate.

He said Villar even rented a helicopter that enabled him and his team to distribute relief goods to typhoon victims in Pasig, Marikina, Montalban, San Mateo, and other areas that were unreachable by land.

He noted that the defense chief and his activities during and after Ondoy’s onslaught were well covered by government-owned TV and radio stations as other departments were practically under his control during the calamity.

“Gibo was practically everywhere. You see him on TV and hear him over the radio when Metro Manila was submerged in flood water. I think he took advantage of the situation to boost his upcoming candidacy,” Marcos said.
