Malaysia Airlines and CFM have inked a support agreement for CFM engines powering the airline’s Boeing 737-800 fleet.

Last year, Malaysia Airlines has ordered 35 firm and 20 optional aircraft with delivery starting the fourth quarter of 2010.

Malaysia Airlines Senior General Manager, Engineering and Maintenance, En Mohd Roslan Ismail said: “We have a long association with CFM, and we have been getting excellent support for our B737-400 aircraft engines."

"We are confident that CFM will continue to deliver the same service with the CFM engines.” The CFM56-7B26/3 engines powering the new B738s will be the advanced Tech Insertion configuration, which will provide the airline with lower maintenance costs, improved oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions, and better fuel burn.

Tech insertion includes improvements to the high-pressure compressor, the combustor, and the high- and low-pressure turbines.
