Despite flood, Taguig services continue
Taguig Mayor Freddie Tiñga assured the public that services remain uninterrupted despite the city hall’s ground floor premises being submerged in knee-high flood waters.
He said all affected departments of the city government such as Assessor’s, Treasury, Personnel, Social Welfare and Development, Local School Board, and Health offices have been temporarily transferred to the City Auditorium since Monday.
“Not even the floods can hinder us from performing our duties as public servants and delivering much-needed services to our constituents. We would like the public to know that only classes in schools, and not the regular working days at city hall, have been suspended,” Tiñga said.
As most of the city hall compound remains under water, wooden footbridges and makeshift pathways have been constructed from the main gate to various buildings inside its premises for the convenience of the public.
Meanwhile, the city government continues to distribute relief goods to thousands of affected families on a house-to-house basis; construct wooden foot bridges in areas submerged in flood waters; and provide free shuttle services to ferry commuters to and from areas not passable to public transport.
Six teams simultaneously deliver these services in affected areas on scheduled visits to different barangays daily. Medical teams are also dispatched to conduct on-site checkups and distribute medicines to victims.
Last Thursday, Tiñga led the relief and medical operations on flooded areas in Brgys. Ligid-Tipas, Palingon-Tipas, Ibayo-Tipas, and Napindan.
