Emmy Rossum’s secret marriage is over – her husband has filed for divorce in Los Angeles.

The Poseidon star wed Justin Siegel in February 2008 and now the unhappy husband is seeking to end the union, citing irreconcilable differences.

According to the documents, obtained by TMZ.com, producer Siegel is asking his estranged wife pay for the cost of the divorce – and he wants spousal support. Rossum has reportedly already moved on from married life after finding romance with “Counting Crows” frontman Adam Duritz. (Starpulse.com)

Mel Gibson seeks to clear DUI charge

Mel Gibson has launched a court battle to wipe a drunk-driving charge from his police record.

The “Braveheart” actor was arrested in June 2006 after getting behind the wheel while intoxicated, and was sentenced to three years’ probation the following month on a misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI) charge.

Now the star has filed legal papers, obtained by TMZ.com, that indicate his lawyer will be in court in October to ask a judge to expunge the DUI from his record because he has completed the terms of his probation.

Gibson successfully attended a 12-step program for 11 months, underwent an alcohol abuse education course, and also handed over his driver’s license for 90 days as part of his rehabilitation. (Starpulse.com)

Dennis Hopper released from hospital

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – “Easy Rider” star Dennis Hopper has been released from a New York hospital after checking in with flu-like symptoms and being treated for dehydration, his manager said on Thursday. Hopper, 73, checked into the hospital on Wednesday when he felt ill during a trip to New York.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – US TV talk-show host David Letterman said on Thursday he was the victim of a $2 million extortion plot by a man who threatened to write a screenplay about Letterman having affairs with employees. An employee of CBS’s “48 Hours,” a documentary show that regularly features true crimes, was arrested on Thursday in connection with the case, CBS said in a statement.
