Following an emergency meeting, Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said the city government will extend financial aid of P6,000 each to the victims’ families to ease their financial burden.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) reported that there were 44 “Ondoy”-related deaths in the city with Barangay Bagong Silangan in District 2 accounting for the most number of casualties with 29.
To provide maximum assistance, Belmonte ordered the opening of 11 one-stop assistance centers on key areas of the city where victims will be provided with food, medicine, and other medical assistance.
The assistance centers located in Barangays Bagong Pag-Asa, Masambong, Bahay Toro, Bagong Silangan, North Fairview, Santa Lucia, Gulod, Bagbag, Bagumbayan,Old Balara, and Tatalon can each accommodate at least 1, 000 evacuees.
