Despite the seemingly bleak economic atmosphere in the country, Japan’s NTT Communications, a subsidiary of telco powerhouse NTT, has opted to establish on Sept. 29 a Philippine office.

In a statement, NTT Com announced that a wholly-owned subsidiary, NTT Com Philippines, will provide system integration, security solutions, and other ICT services starting October 1.

The Philippine unit, the company said, will cater to local multinational companies with communication systems and ICT environments, from design and implementation to operation and support, as well as system consulting, PBX/LAN/server installation, and security services.

All services will be backed by “highly flexible and responsive Japanese-quality support,” the company said.

NTT Com currently provides global network services, such as Arcstar Global IP-VPN, in partnership with Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT). NTT has a minority stake in the country’s dominant carrier.

The Japanese tech firm said it “will maintain its partnership with PLDT while strengthening its provision of comprehensive ICT solutions to global enterprises through the establishment of NTT Com Philippines.”

The local office, under the direction of Hideki Iida, will be based on the 17th floor of the Philamlife Tower in Makati City.
