Mariah Carey turns over a new leaf

Mariah Carey knows her fair share of up’s and down’s. From a highly publicized emotional breakdown to a famously flopped venture into acting via her “Glitter” film which bombed in the box-office, Carey is ready to put her life back on track.
Labeled as a diva by many in the entertainment industry, Mariah is ready to turn over a new leaf and put her insecurities behind her. The 39-year-old pop star will play the character of a dowdy, no-nonsense social worker in a new film by director Daniel Lee. The film, which will be released next month, has garnered Carey much praise and has proven to be a life-changing experience for Mariah.
“That was such a freeing experience for me,” Carey said to the press. “By making me look so bad he brought out the ability to never be self-conscious again, and that was a gift that he gave me.”
The role has helped Mariah shed some of the insecurities that not only hindered her in acting, but in her real life as well. After years of striving to reach an ideal, this change sees her embracing life’s imperfections, an attitude summed up by the title of her latest album, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.”
The album was first introduced with the hit “Obsessed” that gained utmost popularity both here and the globe topping music and video charts for several weeks in a row. And now, fans can expect a bulls-eye is hit by Mariah’s golden voice as she launches her new single – an impressive remake of the 80’s Foreigner hit, “I Wanna Know What Love Is.”
Filipinos have always been known for their love for all aspects of music and this expression of appreciation is often channeled through listening, dancing and of course, singing! The songs of Mariah Carey have been the top of mind for Filipinos over the years when the opportunity to sing arises.
To further channel this passion, MCA Music together with Wow Videoke launches the Mariah Carey-oke Contest. Simply visit participating Odyssey and Astrovision stores, head on to WOW Videoke booths located there and sing “I Wanna Know What Love Is.” Those with a score of 95% or more will instantly win a Mariah cellphone pouch. Twenty of these winners will be chosen to compete in a grand amateur singing competition and take home real autographed merchandise from Mariah Carey herself!
