Kris Aquino tells off Sagip Kapamilya critics

TV host-actress Kris Aquino has rebuked those who insinuate that the ABS-CBN relief operation, Sagip Kapamilya, is only for show.

“Sana bago niyo kami pintasan, tingnan niyo muna kung ano ang ginagawa niyo para sa kapwa niyo. Hindi po namin ‘to ginagawa para lalo kaming sumikat,” she said.

“Yung ginagastos niyo sa pagpapakalat ng mga [ganyang] text messages, sana itulong niyo na lang.”

She added that there are not enough trucks to speed up the distribution of relief goods.

“Kaya nga po nagkusa na ang ABS at mga artista para makapag-deliver ng goods.”

Kim Bum to Pinoys: ‘Don’t lose hope, keep smiling’

“Boys Over Flowers”’ star Kim Bum feels for the victims of typhoon Ondoy.

“He feels sorry for what has happened but at the same time he says, ‘People, don’t lose hope and strength. Keep smiling,’” Bum said through an interpreter.

Bum is in the country to shoot a soft drink commercial with actress Maja Salvador.

Kapuso stars aid ‘Ondoy’ victims

Stars of Kapuso network took time off from their busy schedules to entertain callers on the “Ondoy Kapuso Helpline” and to send out donations to the typhoon victims.

Among these celebrities were Rhian Ramos, John “Sweet” Lapus, Arci Munoz, Jay Manalo, Richard Gomez, Alfred Vargas and AJ Dee.

Meanwhile, Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez conducted their own relief operation in Balara, Quezon City.

The same goes with Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera through their own “Yes Pinoy Foundation.” The two along with Antonio Aquitania and Dennis distributed goods in Barangay Manggahan in Pasig City.

All is well among Iza and Kris, Aljur

Iza Calzado refuted rumors that she has ill feelings towards young love team Kris Bernal and Aljur Abrenica who made a scene at the recent premiere night of her film, “The Echo.”

It can be recalled that Aljur gave Kris flowers that night which some members of the media deemed as stealing the thunder from Iza and the movie.

To prove that all is well among them, Iza graced the premiere night of the love team’s launching movie, “Nandito Ako… Nagmamahal Sa ‘Yo” a few days after the incident.

More celebrities recall their ‘Ondoy’ experience

Jean Garcia and her daughter Jennica recalled how they managed to survive the onslaught of typhoon Ondoy.

Jennica revealed that she felt were on the brink of death that night. The two initially stayed in actress Jennylyn Mercado’s house before moving to condominium lent to them by Jean’s friend.

Gladys Reyes recounted how Ryan Agoncillo braved the flood waters to come to their rescue in Vista Verde, Cainta, Rizal. She shared that her son to Christopher Roxas, Kristoff kept saying, “Ryan, you’re my hero!”

The actress added that the most important item that they were able to salvage was her wedding ring.

“Star Circle Quest” finalist Joseph Bitangcol thanked his neighbors in Greenpark Village, Manggahan, Pasig City who rescued his father at the height of the storm. He said that if not for them, his father would have surely perished because he was bedridden from surviving a recent stroke attack.

“StarStruck” survivor Yasmien Kurdi was thankful that her 65-year old grandmother was unharmed in Pasig. Yasmien narrated that because of the storm, the area did not have electricity, water and communication signal when she visited her.

Nothing to it – Raymart Santiago, Rico Gutierrez

Kapuso star Raymart Santiago said that he is surprised when some of his neighbors in Loyola Grand Villas where he lives, come up to thank him for saving their lives.

“Sa sobrang dami kasi [ng mga natulungan ko], hindi ko na rin maalala [kung sino-sino sila],” he humbly said.

Another resident of Loyola Grand Villas, TV director Rico Gutierrez, said that he used his couch as a raft to help evacuate his neighbors.

When hunks become heroes

Hunks Gerald Anderson and Jericho Rosales are all the more admired now for their heroic deeds during typhoon “Ondoy”.

Gerald Anderson was photographed tying a rope to a tree which he used to cross the flooded Vista Real Classica in Quezon City so he could check on his neighbors. The “Tayong Dalawa” star also sought the help of fellow residents Cesar Montano and Bayani Agbayani to assist their neighbors.

Meanwhile, Jericho used his surf board as a means to save lives in Marikina.

Cristine Reyes returns to work; Vic talks about wedding plans

Typhoon victim Cristine Reyes has resumed shooting for “Ang Darling Kong Aswang” with leading man Vic Sotto.

The comedian was all praises for Cristine’s courage. “Parang walang nangyari,” said he who recently spoke with his girlfriend Pia Guanio about tying the knot.

Cristine had already gone to Provident Village where their house got submerged in floodwater. She confessed that her ex-boyfriend, actor Dennis Trillo had texted her to see how she was doing after the tragedy.

‘Ondoy’ creates ‘stronger bond’ between Richard, Cristine

Richard Gutierrez said his rescue of Cristine Reyes who was stranded on the roof of her house due to Ondoy has resulted to a “stronger bond” between them.

As for the negative feedbacks some people say of him, Richard simply said, “Ipag-pe-pray ko na lang sila.”

Cristine added: “Magdasal na lang tayo para sa iba [kasi] mas makakatulong pa ‘yun kaysa manira.”

Che Tiongson withdraws case against Chavit Singson

Her explanation: “For the sake of my children.”

Che added that media played a role in yet again, giving a face to battered women through her.

Some of their friends believe the two can still end up together. “Nakikita ko namang mahal pa ni Che si Chavit, at si Chavit mahal pa rin niya si Che, kaya siguro magkabalikan ‘yung dalawang ‘yun,” said Annabelle Rama.

Nadia Montenegro said the two deserve a chance to live their lives again. “If they can’t be the best [of] lovers, then can be the best parents,” said she.

Chavit, however, doesn’t see a reunion happening. “Wala [na] rin akong pakialam kung gusto na niyang maghanap ng iba,” he said.

Mark Herras to court Ynna Asistio?

Mark Herras said he wants to cultivate his relationships with Ynna Asistio and her family before moving to the next phase.

“Gusto ko munang pagdaanan lahat bago mapunta dun sa point na may ligawan. Ayokong sayangin ‘yung happiness na nararamdaman ko with her family,” said Mark who was Ynna’s escort in her debut party last Sept. 25.

‘No chance to talk to Paolo’ - Isabel Oli

Isabel Oli admitted that though she saw her ex-boyfriend Paolo Contis at Ynna Asistio’s debut party, they did not talk to each other.

“Nakita ko siya nung umakyat sa stage for the 18 roses, pero di niya ako nakita. Wala talagang chance para mag-usap,” she said.

Vicky Belo belies rekindling romance with Hayden

Dr. Vicky Belo said there is no truth to rumors that she and ex-boyfriend Hayden Kho are back in each other’s arms.

She added that Hayden and her daughter Crystal are talking again “for the first time in three years.”

Belo said she is proud of Hayden for participating in the Campaign of Violence against Women.

The hold-departure-order issued for Belo in lieu of the Halili-Kho scandal has been lifted.

Wenn Deramas’ mother dies

The mother of movie and TV director Wenn Deramas was reported to have passed away on Oct. 2. Her remains lie in Funeraria Paz.

KC Concepcion offers respite to Ondoy victims

Actress KC Concepcion reported that the United Nations World Food Program has sent “35 tons of high-energy, specially formulated biscuits” for the Ondoy victims.

“[The donation will] feed 11, 700 typhoon kid victims, under 5 years old for a whole month,” she said on her Twitter account.

KC also offers her new teleserye, “Lovers in Paris,” to people as a respite from the bleak situation many face.

“Sa gitna ng lahat, just smile. Feel-good [itong ‘Lovers’] kaya kung gusto niyong mag-take ng break physically o emotionally, nandito kami sa ABS-CBN para sa inyo.”
