It’s been awhile since the name Jana Roxas surfaced.

Though she appeared in a number of drama shows, her name was at the background unlike after her “Starstruck” stint a few years ago when she was instantly in the limelight. She may have been busy with her past shows but she was “invisibly busy” for a young actress.

That may soon change as this GMA Artist Center talent is said to be geared to recapture her limelight and regain speed in her slowed down acting career. And one of the steps that Jana is undertaking to reach her goals right now in showbiz is to – go sexy!

“I really need to lose weight,” she intimated in Filipino. “And when I do lose weight, I don’t mind diving into a sexy image.”

As of press time, Jana said that she would soon have a liposuction to be performed by Dr. Manny Calayan. She is said to be one of the doctor’s latest celebrity endorsers.

“I’m just happy to be part of the Calayan family. I’m really eager to have a liposuction done… in this business you always have to offer something new and I want to reinvent myself into someone sexy… I really want to thank Dr. Manny,” expressed Jana.

Having a slimmer figure and focusing more on character roles is for her the right combination for future success in the business. As to how much she has grown as an actress, viewers can judge her from her performance in the new GMA-7 soap opera entitled “Ikaw Sana” which features the love team of Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras and Pauleen Luna. She plays Charlene, a social climber and friend of Pauleen’s Sofia Montemayor character.

“Everything is better now,” smiled Jana about her career. “I think I’m at an age where I can explore more and use my talents.”

As an actress, Jana hopes to get more challenging roles to hone her dramatic skills. Going through a lot of obstacles in life, she is one actress who has a warehouse of emotions she can use or draw from for any dramatic scene especially when it comes to love scenes. And for her role in “Ikaw Sana,” it would be to help Pauleen give Jennylyn’s Eliza Montemayor a very hard life!

“I feel like I’m starting all over again in my career. It was my choice to take a break from showbiz but now I’m determined to succeed and really be a better actress,” she said.

Jana is one who could be “cursed” with the saying “unlucky in love but lucky in career” (she was a co-winner in the R3-million jackpot in “Hole in the Wall” a few months ago). But in love, she seems to be unfortunate as her actor-boyfriend (Alfred Vargas) for eight months denied any relationship with her. According to her, she felt stabbed in the heart when she heard her ex-beau in an interview on “Showbiz Central” say that they were never in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship!

“Actually when he broke up with me, I never thought he already had another woman in his life. He told me he only needed time to find himself. I thought he would come back after two weeks because he only needed a break because he had so much work then,” shared a teary-eyed Jana. According to her, Alfred courted her and that he would even go to Tarlac for her.

“If ever, I don’t want to have another boyfriend from showbiz. I was really hurt because I was really in love with him. I wasn’t just in love, I even idolized him as an actor,” she lamented. (Jan has a lot of “intimate photos” of the two of them to prove they indeed had a relationship.)

So what was the lesson she learned?

“I learned not to trust so much and that I should love myself more than anyone else,” she said.

As to her career plan, Jana said “All my batchmates from ‘Starstruck’ like Iwa Moto and Jackie Rice have gone sexy in showbiz so I guess it’s time for me to get on board. If I get offers why not if it would help my career. I should be more practical now,” she remarked. She stressed though that everything will still be based on the decision of GMA Artist Center.

“I really want to focus on being a ‘kontrabida.’ Because lately my past role was that of a ‘blind woman,’ being stepped on and I was always crying,” she said. “I think I’m a stronger person now so it would be better for me to play ‘kontrabida’ roles!”

With that in mind, it’s not surprising to see Jana Roxas as an actress ON THE RISE!
