High-value business process outsourcing (BPO) services provider Star Tek mulls expanding its operation within the National Capital Region as its Makati facility approaches full capacity. This was announced by StarTek managing director Ed Mallari during its first anniversary celebration.

The company is considering expansion options as the 7,200 square meter Makati facility approaches capacity. The company began operations in the Philippines in September last year and now employs 860 Filipino knowledge workers. It expects to recruit 240 more this year.

According to Mallari, the company increased its employment by 115 percent in the first five months of 2009.

“Aside from our goal of filling 1,100 seats by end of the year, we are working to acquire new clients for this facility,” said Mallari saying they had a great year. “We’re evaluating expansion options. Those options include provincial locations as well as locations throughout the National Capital Region,” said StarTek senior vice president for business development Mary Beth Loesch said.
