Actor Joseph Bitangcol has resumed tending to his family's barbecue business in Manggahan, Pasig.

"Pag wala akong gawa, ako na ang nagbabantay para dagdag atraksyon na rin," he said in an interview with Manila Bulletin Entertainment Online during the “Nagsimula sa Puso” press conference on Oct. 6. 

Joseph added that he aims to open another branch in Pasig to increase the venture's earning potential.

The actor needs to make hay especially after their house was ravaged by typhoon Ondoy. “Ang taas ng baha sa amin. Sa labas ng bahay, lagpas tao na. Sa loob ng bahay, parang hanggang leeg na," he said.

Save for a few clothes and personal things, everything inside their house was ruined by the flood, the actor added. 

Joseph returns to the Kapamilya network after being a Kapuso for a time. It can be recalled that his last TV project was GMA-7's "Totoy Bato" starring Robin Padilla. His forthcoming ABS-CBN show is "Tiagong Akyat."

"Siyempre, iba pa rin ‘yong narito ka sa Kapamilya---sa sarili mong bahay," said he who was discovered in the ABS-CBN talent search, “Star Circle Quest.”

At this point in his career, Joseph is no longer interested in baring skin like he did in "Walang Kawala" in which he also locked lips with actor Polo Ravales.   

"Ginawa ko lang ‘yong kakaiba. Siguro, tama na iyon. Hindi naman ako nagsisisi, pero sa ngayon tama na muna," he explained.

Does he still communicate with his ex-girlfriend Sandara Park?

Joseph admitted that he hasn’t because he lost her mobile phone number and he has had no time to e-mail her.  

"Siguro pag may time na lang."

He rules out the possibility of a reunion with Sandara, believing a long-distance affair will be hard for both of them.

"Siyempre, nandoon siya, nandito ako... ang hirap din."

Still, Sandara holds a special place in his heart. "Siyempre, nandoon pa rin ‘yon kasi siya ‘yong pinakamatagal (kong naging ka-relasyon), three years. Napamahal talaga siya sa akin," he said.

When Sandara came to Manila for a three-day visit, Joseph spent only a couple of hours with her and he didn’t ask her out.

"Eh, kasi nahiya rin ako kasi kasama niya ang road manager niya."

They were supposed to see each other again the next day but it did not materialize. "Parang may outing dapat kaso hindi natuloy kasi may kailangan siyang gawin," he said.

Joseph feels bad that their relationship ended the way it did.

"Dahil kilala ko siya na loyal talaga. Kumbaga, masasabi kong wife material talaga. Parang sayang, puwede talaga na…(pero) alam naman namin ang reason kung bakit kami naghiwalay….personal talaga."
