Before investors are turned off by the corruption in the country, the government will hold a dialogue with the US business community to ease their concerns and lay down the gains of the anti-corruption campaign, Malacañang said Thursday.

Deputy Presidential Spokesman Anthony Golez said Trade and Industry Secretary Peter Favila was directed to talk to the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) to assure the government’s tireless commitment to weed out corrupt public officials and cut red tape in the bureaucracy.

In the forthcoming dialogue, Golez said they hope to allay the anxiety by the American business group on alleged prevalent corruption in the country that deflates investor confidence. The perception of corruption has been a thorny issue not just in the Arroyo administration but in previous administration, Golez admitted.
