P7-million benefits poor families in Lanao
BUTUAN CITY – The national government, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Friday, downloaded an amount of P7,075,800 for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps beneficiaries in a town in Lanao del Norte.
The budget was released to some 5,013 registered household recipients in Sultan Naga Dimaporo in the form of cash grants at the Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) Grandstand, in Tubod, Lanao del Norte, through offsite Over-the-Counter (OTC) payment scheme of Landbank of the Philippines.
The cash grants cover the months of May and June, this year.
The 4Ps is a priority program of President Arroyo as a poverty reduction measure which will address the welfare of the vulnerable and needy group of the society, the very poor among the poor households in the marginalized provinces, municipalities and villages in the country.
According to a Northern Mindanao DSWD report, this program serves as a vehicle in combating the cycles of poverty in Filipino household, provide conditional income support to extremely poor households, increase in investments in human capital and education for children will be achieved.
