Diwa Learning Systems launched recently its third generation textbooks (3G Textbooks) and Scholastic Enhancement Materials Digital Edition that utilizes the advantages of information and communication technology (ICT) for interesting and effective learning materials.

The ICT-integrated textbook comes with an online resource index, which makes available a wider source of knowledge for users. The index includes Web links to multi-media resources, additional exercises and topic discussions found in the media gallery of www.diwalearningtown.

The new set of books enable schools to comply with the Department of Education’s ICT4E policy of integrating ICT in the curriculum. They are available for pre-school, grade school and high school. ICT4E is the government’s effort to usher in a new era in education focusing on five areas – ICT-enabled curriculum, ICT-enabled teacher, ICT-enabled governance, ICT-enabled content and ICT infrastructure.

The Diwa 3G Textbook pre-school titles come integrated with multi-media clips, animation and lessons online.

Math for Smart Kids for grade school features stand-alone interactive exercises and games for Grades 1 to 6. English Across Continents for high school are equipped with online grammar exercises to enable students to make use of the Internet as a tool in their learning progress. These are just some examples.

The Diwa 3G Textbooks were rolled out during the ICT in Basic Education Seminar series held last month at SMX Convention Center. Jose Maria Policarpio, Diwa Learning Systems executive director, discussed how schools can easily integrate ICT in their classroom instruction through Genyo, which is being used some 17 private elementary and high schools to deliver education that is at pace with global standards.

Diwa developed Genyo, a fully integrated e-Learning program for Philippine schools, in partnership with Singapore-based Learning Edvantage (LEAD). It is the same product being used in most schools in Singapore.
