The Anti-Illegal Drug-Special Operation Task Group (AID-SOTG) of the Caloocan City police station has arrested a suspected drug pusher in Barangay 34, Caloocan City following several text messages sent to the authorities by concerned citizens.

Senior Insp. Allan Emlano, AID-SOTG head, identified the suspect as Zaldy Balquin, 18, tricycle driver, of 115 B. Santos St., Maypajo, who is facing charges of violating Section 5 (selling of dangerous drugs) of RA 9165.

His arrest came after the city government was bombarded with text messages informing about the illegal activities of Balquin through a column of Mayor Recom Echiverri, "Problema sa Caloocan City I-text kay Mayor Recom," Emlano said.

Acting on the information relayed to him by Senior Supt. Jude W. Santos, Emlano immediately formed a team to conduct a surveillance against the suspect regarding his alleged illegal activities.

In coordination with the officials of Barangay 34, the anti-narcotics operatives launched an anti-narcotics operation eventually resulting in the suspect's arrest.

Emlano said the arrest was part of the city’s intensified drive against illegal activities.
