Games on Tuesday (The Arena, San Juan)
2 p.m. — Adamson vs Lyceum
4 p.m. — UP vs Ateneo
6 p.m. — UST vs FEU

University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University dispute the solo lead this Thursday while Ateneo and Lyceum debut against separate rivals in a Shakey’s V League triplebill at The Arena in San Juan City.

The Tigresses, who swamped San Sebastian College to claim the first conference crown last June, face the Lady Tamaraws at 6 p.m. in a battle between opening day winners.

The Lady Eagles launch their quest for their first ever crown against the Lady Maroons at 4 p.m., shortly after Lady Pirates take on the Lady Falcons at 2 p.m.

Behind the hot hands of comebacking Angeli Tabaquero and veteran Aiza Maizo, UST thumped Adamson, 25-18, 17-25, 25-17, 25-16, while FEU made short work of University of the Philippines, 25-13, 25-23, 25-16, last Sunday to share the early lead in the country’s premiere volleyball league sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and Sports Vision.

Though picked as the team-to-beat in this season-ending tournament after parading an almost intact line up and promising newcomers, UST coach Shaq delos Santos admits there’s still a lot of work to do to get them back in fighting form.

“If you saw our game (against Adamson), we were not consistent with our plays,” Delos Santos said. “We still need more adjustments and communication on the court.”
