NEW YORK, October 13, 2009 (AFP) - Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards, were each fined 25,000 dollars on Tuesday by the National Basketball Association (NBA) for not making the star guard available for interviews.

Arenas, who has played only 15 games the past two seasons due to knee injuries, was fined for not being available to reporters. The club was fined for non-compliance with league media interview rules.

The playmaker said on the Wizard's media day to open training camp that he would not talk with reporters for the remainder of the season and has said little during pre-season games.

Arenas, once the author of a popular blog, hopes to lift the Wizards back into the playoffs after a 19-63 season, second-worst in the NBA in the 2008-2009 campaign.
