UST guns for 3rd win
Games on Friday (Blue Eagle Gym)
4 p.m. — Adamson vs UP
6 p.m. — Lyceum vs UST
University of Santo Tomas tries to make it three-in-a-row when it collides with Lyceum University this Friday in the sixth Shakey’s V League at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.
Seeking their fifth title, the Tigresses battle the winless Lady Pirates at 6 p.m.
Adamson University, meantime, hopes to climb to solo second when it tangles with winless University of the Philippines in the opener at 4 p.m.
The Tigresses, who are seeking a sweep of the season, grabbed the solo lead following their thrilling come-from-behind 17-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-17 triumph against the Lady Falcons last Tuesday.
Aiza Maizo and rookie Maru Banaticla are again expected to lead the España-based squad.
The hard-hitting Maizo finished with a season-high 26 hits which she highlighted with seven blocks while Banaticla, who took the scoring slack in the absence of the injured Judy Anne Caballejo, wound up with 10, including three in succession that sealed their win.
UST enjoys a commanding 6-0 lead over Lyceum in their personal duel since the second conference of the 2005 season.
But UST coach Shaq Delos Santos is not about to let his guards down against the Lady Pirates, who are fresh from notching their 10th straight championship in the WNCAA.
