Cops map out plans for All Souls’ Day
CEBU CITY – The Cebu City Police Office has mapped out security plans to ensure a peaceful and orderly observance of All Saints’ Day and All Soul’s Day which would include the deployment of policemen in major cemeteries around the city.
CCPO Director Patrocinio Comendador said the deployment will start on October 30 and last until November 3 to ensure that the public will have a peaceful and orderly observance of the solemn Christian holidays.
Peace volunteers will also be used to augment the police force during the long holiday weekend. Comendador said both uniformed and covert or plain-clothes police personnel will be deployed in the cemeteries, with members of the Special Weapons and Tactics also maintaining visibility.
Comendador said he has also tapped the services of barangay peace volunteers and members of the Barangay Intelligence Network to coordinate with the police and traffic personnel to avoid traffic jams in areas around the cemeteries.
Comendador said if the public will only cooperate with authorities on the said days, the observance will be peaceful and orderly.
He also advised cemetery-goers to leave someone to watch over their houses and to avoid wearing jewelries and bringing too much cash to avoid being victimized by robbers and thieves.
"The public plays a vital role in ensuring peaceful and orderly observance so we are asking the Cebuanos to cooperate with authorities and report any suspicious activities on the said days," the police chief said.
