The midgets and junior semifinals pairings will be determined this Saturday when the 40th WNCAA basketball and volleyball elimination round comes to a close in separate venues.

University of Asia and the Pacific and La Consolacion College Manila, meanwhile, dispute the Senior B basketball crown at 1 p.m. Sunday after the junior Final Four matches.

UA&P swept all its four elimination round matches but lost Game 1, 58-57. It bounced back with a 51-46 victory in last week's Game 2 which also saw star player Ma. Aurora Biolena romp off with the Most Valuable Player award.

Lyceum copped its fourth straight senior cage title and 10th consecutive volleyball championship last week, ending the season undefeated in both events. UA&P bagged the Senior B volleyball crown.

Chiang Kai Shek College will go for a eight-game sweep in junior basketball against fellow semifinalist De La Salle Zobel at 11:30 a.m. while Miriam (7-1) will secure the No. 2 spot if it prevails over also-ran St. Stephen's High School at 10 a.m. at the St. Scholastica gym.

Host Angelicum College and St. Jude Catholic School are tied at 5-3 and will be taking on La Salle College and Philippine Women’s University, respectively. The quotient system will be used to resolve another deadlock.

In junior volleyball at the RTU gym, St. Scholastica eyes a similar eight-game sweep versus St. Jude, also a Final Four qualifier, at 12 noon.

Miriam and defending champion San Beda, both toting 6-1 records, collide at 11 a.m.

San Beda will try to wrest the No. 1 spot in midget volleyball against defending champion St. Scholastica in the 8 a.m. opener.

The 40th WNCAA is being supported by Monster Radio RX 93.1, Goody, IBC 13, Manila Bulletin, Sports Digest, Muscle Tape, Burlington BioFresh, MJC Press and Macgraphics Carranz.

Over at the UA&P gym, Rizal Technological University, assured of the No. 1 rank in the semifinals, will seek a five-game elimination round sweep versus winless Centro Escolar University at 12 noon.
