Adamson University defeated University of the Philippines, 25-13, 25-22, 25-15, to chalk up its second straight victory on Friday in the Second Conference of the 6th Shakey’s V League at the Blue Eagle Gym.

The one hour win, anchored behind veterans Angela Benting, Pau Soriano and Jill Gustillo and a solid contribution from guest player Charmaine Moralde, gave the Lady Falcons solo third spot with their 2-1 slate.

The Lady Tigresses, the four-time champions, are leading the pack with a perfect 3-0 card and were playing WNCAA titlist Lyceum at presstime last night. Ateneo-Oracare is in second place with a 1-0 record.

“Medyo naga-adjust pa ang mga players dahil yung gym na pinapraktisan namin binaha nung bagyo pero dahan-dahan naman namin nakukuha yung laro,” said Adamson coach Dulce Pante.

Benting led the way for the San Marcelino-based volleybelles with 12 points while Soriano, a runner-up in last year’s UAAP Rookie of the Year plum, and Gustillo added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

But it was Moralde who made the key hits in the second set as she helped Adamson rally from a 4-11 deficit to tie it at 17-all before Benting and company finished the job.

Moralde, a recruit from La Carlota, Negros Occidental who is currently under residency status with Adamson, finished with nine points.

Cathy Barcelon had 10 points for UP, which absorbed its third straight defeat.
