HONG KONG, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale occurred in an island of Philippines, at 7:53 a.m. (2353 GMT), according to a bulletin released by the Hong Kong Observatory on Monday.

The epicenter was initially determined to be in Mindoro, about 95 km south-southwest of Manila, Philippines.
