Games on Tuesday (The Arena, San Juan)
2 p.m. — Admason vs Benilde
4 p.m. — Ateneo vs UST
6 p.m. — SSC vs UP

Ranged against a team still groping for form, University of Santo Tomas found no need to call for a time out in essaying a masterful, 25-15, 25-19, 25-15, win over an outclassed University of the Philippines side last Sunday in the sixth Shakey’s V-League at The Arena in San Juan City.

The Tigresses played so well that UST coach Shaq delos Santos needed no pep talk in steering the four-time champions to their fourth straight victory.

“No need (to call for time out). They are already playing well. They were playing relaxed, so I just let them play,” said Delos Santos, who did not use any of his six time outs in the game that took only 64 minutes to finish.

With a clean 4-0 slate in the single round robin elimination, the Tigresses need to just win their next game against Ateneo to secure a playoff for the quarterfinals.

In the second game, Far Eastern University rode on the heroics of Cherry Vivas to swamp Adamson University, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 25-19, for its second win.

Vivas, who is filling in the open spiker position left by veteran Maica Morada, dished out her best game so far, firing career-best 22 hits, 17 coming from attacks and three in blocks as the Lady Tamaraws battled back from a second set lapse to move into solo third place with a 2-1 card.
