University of Santo Tomas, seeking its fifth crown, tries to make a big push towards its goal as it goes for the first quarterfinal berth against Ateneo on Tuesday in the Shakey’s V-League at The Arena in San Juan.

After claiming the scalps of Adamson, Lyceum, Far Eastern University and University of the Philippines, the league-leading Tigresses this time face an acid test in their 4 p.m. showdown with Ateneo, a team tipped to foil UST’s back-to-back title bid in the sixth season.

A win by UST today will not only give the Tigresses a slot to the next stage but will also stretch their unbeaten run to five in the event sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza and organized by Sports Vision.

UST coach Shaq Delos Santos sees a tough battle against the Lady Eagles, but is still confident with their chances with veteran Judy Anne Caballejo slowly getting back her deadly form after missing the team’s first two games due to a back injury.
