Malaysia Airports to host ACI 19th World General Assembly
Malaysia Airports will again play host to one of the major aviation meetings - the Airports Council International (ACI) 19th World General Assembly after the successful hosting of the first World Route Development Forum (ROUTES) in Asia last year.
The event will be held from 2-4 November 2009 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, where an estimated of 600 delegates from all over the world will congregate in Kuala Lumpur.
The ACI World Annual General Assembly is the biggest global meeting of the ACI World Airport members' senior officials. The event comprises a two day conference, scheduled around official and regional ACI Board meetings and committees. It is the most influential airport event of the calendar, allowing unparalleled access to the global community of ACI airport decision makers.
Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad, Managing Director of Malaysia Airports said: "This is an honour and recognition to Malaysia Airports' contribution to the aviation industry. "Some of the benefits to Malaysia as the host will include the ability to showcase Malaysia as a tourist destination to the delegates from around the world."
The conference program will feature renowned industry specialists who will speak on aviation related topics such as airport economics, industry trends and human capital. The year 2009 has so far been an extremely challenging year, and this global annual conference will be a good venue to share experiences and solutions that will help airports to ensure continuity despite the turbulence and maintain a long-term vision for a sustainable future.
Malaysia Airports will also utilise this opportunity to the fullest by recommending to the delegates to take some extra time and enjoy some of the spectacular nature and wildlife in Malaysia.
Hospitality programmes such as ACI Golf Tournament, sightseeing tours, KL hop-on hop-off bus city tour, Petronas twin towers sky bridge walk and Sepang F1 drive have also been arranged for the delegates to ensure their stay in Malaysia will be a memorable one.
Malaysia Airports also introduced its partners for the event, comprising Malaysia Airlines as the preferred carrier. Malaysia Airlines General Manager, Government & Industry Relations. (EHL)
