Panlilio seeks use of P45-M savings for storm rehab

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Governor Eddie Panlilio has requested the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) ng Pampanga to divert the P45-million unused budget of his office for the rehabilitation of bridges destroyed by recent typhoons, educational assistance, and subsidy for victims of recent calamities.

Panlilio asked the SP on Monday to allocate the P45,999,506 unappropriated balance of the executive department for educational assistance (P4.9 M), rice subsidy for calamity victims (P20 M), honoraria of capitol choir (P126,000), and rehabilitation of vital bridges destroyed by storms “Ondoy” and “Pepeng” (P20.9)

“In order to lessen the impact our cabalens have suffered brought by the recent calamities that besieged our province, I have ordered for the implementation of austerity measures in my office and considerably slashed our budget,” Panlilio said.

Panlilio also requested some appropriations for the Provincial Engineer's Office-Motorpool and the administrative office of quarry operations or the Biyaya a Luluguran at Sisikapan (Balas) to be reverted for special use.

Panlilio noted that the reversion of funds is needed to assist the victims of recent typhoons, particularly the farmers and the poor.
