Fans of actress Kaye Abad and Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda have been speculating of late about the real status of their idols’ relationship.

The talks began after Kaye seemed to have become all too seemingly busy again doing a number of shows for ABS-CBN, marked by a well-received appearance in “Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Bud Brothers.”

Abad is now taping for “Precious Heart Romances Presents: Somewhere in my Heart” and “Rubi.” She has also just recently wrapped up work for an indie film dubbed “Iliw (Nostalgia).”

The actress, once among the most popular of her batch, had been, for years, quite content doing intermittent work for the Kapamilya network.

It has been long rumored that Abad’s relationship with her band singer boyfriend was among the primary causes for her lethargy.

Abad was quick to dispel this in an interview with Manila Bulletin Entertainment Online.

“No. (Chito) has nothing to do with it. He was very supportive of my career…nagkataon lang talaga,” she explains, acknowledging that she became selective of projects being offered to her due to “burnout.”

That said, the actress wouldn’t confirm nor deny if she’s still in a relationship with the singer.

“Basta hulaan n’yo na lang (laughs).”

The statement bears a marked difference from how the 28-year-old would reply to questions pertaining to her relationship with the Parokya ni Edgar singer before when she would simply reply with a curt, “Oo naman (yes, of course).”

Abad started her career in 1994 as part of ABS-CBN’s youth-oriented show “Ang TV.”

She then became a member of Star Circle Batch 3, subsequently landing a part in the popular teen-oriented show “Tabing Ilog” and becoming known to many as “Eds.”

At 16, she won her first major award in the Asian International Awards for Best Supporting Actress (First Runner-Up) for an episode dubbed “Aklat” for “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”

Work has been sporadic for the actress since then, with her opting to take on mostly supporting appearances in “Kapitan Inggo,” “May Bukas Pa,” and some music videos including Kamikazee’s “Martyr Nyebera.”

“It’s good to be back…to be busy again,” Abad says. “I missed this…actually medyo nakakapanibago uli…’yong schedule…tapings…ang matanong ng mga ganyang questions (laughs),” the actress says.

Abad says she’s all about work nowadays.

“It’s not about (me) wanting to catch up (with my contemporaries). I just want to work again and I’m really glad for the support that (ABS-CBN) management has been giving me,” she quips.

While taping for "Precious Heart Romances Presents: Bud Brothers,” rumors abound about a romance blossoming between her and co-star Guji Lorenzana, with their co-workers attesting to the sweetness both displayed on the set.

Lorenzana even went on to say that he is already “falling” for Abad “a little bit every day.”

Both are paired anew in “Precious Heart Romances Presents: Somewhere in my Heart.”

“He is just a sweet guy,” Abad says. “I feel flattered ‘bout what he said but more than that…nothing. I really just want to focus on work.”

Is she discarding the possibility of a romance with Lorenzana?

“No. Ayoko naman magsalita ng tapos especially as he is really nice, mabait, sweet. Pero right now, like I said, I just want to work and I’m thankful that people have accepted our pairing.”

As to another widely circulated rumor linking her to GMA star Dennis Trillo, Abad merely gave a hearty laugh.

“I really don’t know how these stories evolve. He’s a friend. I won’t deny that I know him but no, we don’t even communicate that much.”
