A fun-filled birthday guest appearance on “Ruffa and Ai” last Oct. 22 turned into a ‘grilling moment' for actress Bea Alonzo who was put on the hot seat by the show's hosts.

Ruffa Gutierrez---who is being linked to Bea’s leading man, John Lloyd Cruz, of late---trained the spotlight on the love team’s off-cam relationship following the airing of a VTR of John Lloyd’s birthday greeting to Bea.

“Sa sobrang closeness niyo ni John Lloyd, naging kayo ba?”

To which Bea immediately answered, “Hindi. Hindi (rin) siya nanligaw sa’kin.”

Long-time best friend Shaina Magdayao seconded Bea’s clarification.

In the VTR, John Lloyd wished her “extra happiness, extra joy, at sana ‘yung extra na ‘yun mag-last.”

Other Kapamilya male performers such as Sam Milby, Vhong Navarro, Piolo Pascual, Luis Manzano, Billy Crawford, and Jake Cuenca aired out their messages to Bea.

In an interview on the primetime entertainment show, “Showbiz News Ngayon,” last March, the actress admitted to have “almost” fallen in love with her eight-year onscreen partner.

“Si John Lloyd naman kasi very charming, eh. Hindi ko siguro masisisi ang any girl kung once in their life, mag-fall sila.

“I must admit it came to a point that it crossed my mind na, ‘Ano kaya, ‘no? Ano kaya kung naging kami?’” Bea revealed.

However, she realized that their romance is only for reel.

“Maraming nangyari na siguro lingid sa kaalaman niyo na muntik tapos hindi (naman pala). Hindi siguro kami meant (to be),” she said.

Fans hoping to see the two end up with each other for real will have to content themselves with a reunion movie set for release next year.

The award-winning actor even kidded Bea that he might shed his flabs for the film.

"Gagawa na tayo ng pelikula. Babalik ka rin sa mga kamay ko. Dinanas mo na ang mga matitigas na abs nina Derek at Sam. Don't worry, malay mo sipagin ako, ma-achieve natin ‘yan.”
