UNO unfazed by threats on Erap
The United Opposition (UNO) said Friday that it expects demolition work against former President Joseph Estrada to begin after he formally declared his bid for reelection but Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay said they are not fazed by the threats of disqualification cases against his running mate.
In a statment, Binay claimed that the demolition work against his running mate is anticipated given Estrada’s formidable candidacy and strong support from the masses.
“Make no mistake about it. President Estrada remains a national leader admired and respected by the masses. Even the administration party recognizes him as a threat. And we anticipate that the demolition work on him will soon be starting,” he said.
The mayor added that UNO have strong arguments to prove the eligibility of Estrada to seek for reelection.
“We believe we stand on firm legal grounds. If these cases are filed, we are prepared to respond. But we will not be prevented from offering our people a leadership that has the executive capability and genuine concern for the poor that has been absent in the last eight years of the Arroyo administration,” Binay added.
