Malaysia honors Ibrado
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Gen. Victor Ibrado was conferred the Order of Gallantry and Military Service Award, or the Darjah Panglima Gagah Angakatan Tentera (Knight Grand Commander - Honorary), by His Majesty Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin ibni Sl-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Bilah Shah, The Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King) XIII of Malaysia.
Ibrado received the award in ceremonies held Wednesday at the Istana Negra (National Palace) in Kuala Lumpur.
The award, one of the more prestigious decorations of the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces, is given to the highest ranking officers of the Malaysian Army and the Chiefs of the Royal Malaysian Navy and the Air Force. It is also given to foreign generals, admirals and air marshals.
The Malaysian King bestowed the award on Ibrado in recognition of his meritorious service and contribution in promoting defense cooperation between the Philippines and Malaysia.
In 2008, the Malaysian King also conferred the same award on former AFP Chief of Staff, General Hermogenes Esperon Jr.
