Malacañang Saturday revealed the “tentative” list of its senatorial bets as it continuously searched for its vice presidential candidate.

Presidential Adviser for Political Affairs Gabriel Claudio, also the secretary-general of ruling Lakas-Kampi-CMD party, said that those included in the list are experienced solons and members of the Cabinet.

He also noted that those on the list are “under consideration” and the party is still in consultations on who will eventually run under the administration ticket.

He said among the possible senatorial bets under the administration banner are Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, and former senators Ralph Recto and Tito Sotto III.

Cabinet officials in the list are Health Secretary Francisco Duque, Cabinet Secretary Silvestre Bello III, and Finance Secretary Margarito Teves.

Also in the list are former Optical Media Board chief Edu Manzano, Mrs. Arroyo’s lawyer, Atty. Romulo Macalintal; Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. Chairman Efraim Genuino, and Marikina Mayor Marides Fernando, wife of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Bayani Fernando who was not chosen by the 65-member national executive committee of the ruling party last month to be its standard- bearer.

Claudio said Jess Aranza, the president of the Federation of Philippine Industries and lone Muslim candidate, will also join the senatorial derby next year.

In a radio interview, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita, the Lakas interim party president, said the search for Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro’s running mate is still on, following the withdrawal of Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno from joining the vice presidential race.

The administration party is set to announce its vice presidential and senatorial bets on Nov. 12 during its National Convention. The venue is not yet known.

He also belied claims that Puno gave up his political plan because he was pressured to give the slot to Batangas Governor Vilma Santos.
